Well, as long as there isn’t a defense for the crime…

Joel Tenenbaum’s case has been the background for a week of a very bizarre copyright law and file sharing policy changes.  Curiously, the Tenenbaum team won’t be shaking up the way the law is applied, but seems to be seeking to actually minimize the actual damages under the 8th amendment.  This is the proverbial other side to the recording industries lawsuit coin, can they justify the damages that they’re claiming?  After all,  it’s not like stealing a CD from the store.  It’s not like they could just take an original copy and make as many other ones as they wanted so long as they had space…

Necker Cubes? Really?

With the start of the Joel Tenenbaum trial this week, it’s interesting to see whether or not the Harvard Professor gone Steve Jobs trial attorney Charles Nesson can provide a significant change for the basis under which copyright is fundamentally operating.  Despite some buzz out of Sweden that could potentially undermine the efforts of the general user license and open source guru’s, the copyleft [who the hell comes up with these names...], there hasn’t been much in the way of positive copyright reform.  That is, unless you count the Canadians.

Let’s talk about the scene for a minute

Tonight, I went to the store in order to buy a book for Food and Wine Pairing I.    After purchasing Great Tastes Made Simple: Extraordinary Food and Wine Pairing for Every Palate by Andrea Immer, I proceed to head to Target to pick up a binder. Being that the Christmas season is fast approaching and my list has been light, I figured I’d head over and check out the music selection.  Music had become something of an addiction for me while I was in New Hampshire for the summer.  My car still hasn’t fully recovered from the number of CDs I purchased.
